Organic antimicrobial nanomaterials and reducing copper use in sustainable plant protection

Abstract

The agriculture sector is facing many challenges, like inefficiency, pollution, development of resistances by pathogens, accumulation of heavy metals in soil. Nanotechnology can address many of these aspects. Moreover, market requests are leading toward new strategies of plant protection and pest management, that rely on natural compounds. In the following chapter, the development of organic nanoparticles as green, efficient and innovative agrochemicals is presented as a solution, by deepening among others their possible application as tools to reduce the use of copper.
