Marine pollution has become one of the world’s major concerns. A great number of toxic compounds are being released into our marine environment continuously affecting marine biodiversity.
Similarly, climate change is transforming the Arctic
environment faster than expected and accelerating the
disappearance of sea ice. In this context, the report on Aquatic
bacteria being possible markers for monitoring Arctic climate
change is note worthy.
In this issue we bring articles on importance of marine
algae, status of microbes in Bay of Bengal and reports on the use
of a variety of microbes as biomarkers, for climate change and
cleaning up of oil spill etc.,
